Plan on 45-60 min. Weather, loading time and intermediate stops can move that number, so do not stack a tight airport transfer straight after the crossing.
Most tickets show Buyuk or Banjar Nyuh, Nusa Penida for departure and Serangan Harbour for arrival. Read the harbor line, not just the island name. That small check saves a real taxi headache.

Yes. Nusa Penida charges a tourist retribution fee of Rp25,000 per adult and Rp15,000 per child. Since 21 February 2026 it must be bought online before you arrive — it is no longer collected in cash at the jetty.
