Mae Haad Pier, on the west coast of Koh Tao, handles all the island's ferry and catamaran traffic, though it is really a cluster of separate operator berths rather than one shared dock: Lomprayah and the night boat berth about 30m apart, while Songserm and Seatran sit at the two extremes, over 200m apart from each other. They are all still an easy walk from one another, but do not assume every operator is right next to the one you just got off. Chumphon is the shortest mainland connection: Lomprayah's own timetable lists sailings from Thung Makham Noi Pier taking about 1 hour 45 minutes on its catamaran and about 2 hours 30 minutes on its slower car ferry. Koh Tao also connects onward within the Gulf of Thailand island chain without a mainland detour. To Koh Phangan, Lomprayah's own timetable shows sailings from about 45 minutes on the fastest speed boat up to 1 hour 40 minutes on the slowest service. To Koh Samui, the fastest direct sailing is a 07:05 Lomprayah speed boat at about 1 hour 25 minutes, but several other departures change boats at Koh Phangan and can take up to 3 hours, so check whether your ticket is direct or interlined.
